Paxus’ commitment to your privacy

Paxus1 is committed to protecting the privacy of all the individuals it deals with. This document sets out our policies on handling personal information (including health information).

If you are a contractor or applying for or intending to apply for a position advertised through Paxus, you should refer to the “Paxus Privacy Statement for Candidates and Contractors” for more specific details on how Paxus handles your personal information.

 

What kinds of personal information does Paxus collect and what is it used for?

Paxus is a personnel agency specialising in the supply of IT contracting and permanent staff.
The following are the main types of personal (including health) information collected by Paxus and the main purposes they are used for.

How does Paxus handle this information?

Paxus is bound by the National Privacy Principles of the Privacy Act 1988 and other applicable laws governing privacy.
Where appropriate, Paxus may handle personal information relying on the related bodies corporate exemption and the Employee Records exemption in the Privacy Act and any other applicable exemptions in other legislation.

Who is the personal information disclosed to?

As a general rule, Paxus will not provide personal information to any third parties except:

  • to related companies of Paxus, for the same kinds of purposes as listed above;
  • to ensure continuity of service, to another company if the supply of the product or service has been transferred to that company;
  • to third parties engaged to provide services in connection with the purposes mentioned above (eg: SkillsMarket or any service provider for the creation and administration of any online profile technology, external auditors, superannuation, training and CV processing) but only if they satisfy Paxus that they comply with the Privacy Act and other relevant privacy laws; and
  • if it is otherwise permitted or required by the Privacy Act or any other law.
  • personal information may be transferred overseas for the purposes and processes described above (eg: for administration of international customer dealings).

How can I access the personal information (including health information) held about me by Paxus?

Security of your personal information

Paxus will take reasonable steps to ensure that we hold your personal information in a secure environment accessed only by authorised persons for the purposes and processes described above.
However, no data transmission across any network, including the internet, can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit across a network (including the internet). Definitions

The terms “personal information” and “employee record” are used in this document with the meanings given to them in the Privacy Act 1988. To summarise their meaning:
personal information means information or an opinion, whether true or not, from which your identity is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained.
employee record means personal information relating to the employment of an employee, for example:

  • health information;
  • engagement, training, disciplining or resignation;
  • termination of employment;
  • terms and conditions of employment;
  • hours of employment and salary or wages;
  • recreation, long service, sick, personal, maternity, paternity or other leave;
  • taxation, banking or superannuation affairs.
