An organisation committed to the promotion, development and independence of private schools and innovative thinking on education and issues affecting those schools.

Membership is voluntary and is open to all registered non-government schools in Victoria.

It is a member service association supporting more than 230 private schools state-wide.

Purpose

The Risk and Compliance Advisor will report to the School Services Advisor and is primarily responsible for providing timely and accurate advice to Member Schools in relation to a range of legal, operational, risk, compliance and governance issues.

The position will suit a current risk or compliance manager in a school.

Major Responsibilities

  • Responding to Member Schools' queries and providing verbal or written advice to assist them in managing their day-to-day operational challenges and meeting their legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Developing and updating resources on isComply and isConnect in conjunction with the Digital Data and Technology Team.
  • Developing and delivering seminars, briefings, and training programs through isLearn to meet the needs of Member Schools.
  • Representing the company on various government, education sector, and stakeholder committees or working groups to ensure that the interests of members are represented.

Qualifications

  • Experience in risk and compliance is an advantage.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in law or risk management.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding of the laws and regulations within the education sector, including the Education and Training Reform Act 2006, the Education and Training Reform Regulations 2017, and the VRQA Minimum Standards and Requirements for School Registration.
  • Experience in the development and drafting of policies, templates, and procedures.
  • Previous experience in risk management in an education or similar industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, define work priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The appointee must hold and maintain a current Victorian Working with Children Check or be eligible to receive one. The appointee must undergo and receive a clear National Criminal History Check upon employment and during the employment.
