Job description

A Leading State Government Client based in Western Sydney is looking for an SAP Payroll SME. Initial 6 months contract role + Pot. Ext. APPLY NOW!!!

About the role:


The Subject Matter Expert would provide agency related operational knowledge and expertise on a range of Organisational Management (OM) and Payroll matters, and HR administration services within an ERP environment. Also, provide support and advice to ensure compliance with processes, solution integrity and suitability to the needs of the agency and impacted business units.

Key accountabilities

  • Assist with the implementation of payroll, OM and HR administration functionality and system processes for the new SAP platform in alignment with agency requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on payroll and HR related knowledge and operational practices and recommendations to ensure solution compliance with legislation, awards, policies and NSW government audit requirements.
  • Serves as a key main point of contact and main conduit between the project team and business stakeholders and facilitates stakeholder discussions and resolution of issues as input into the SAP system solution refinements or potential changes.
  • Provide support to staff on the use and adoption of the new SAP solution and escalates business needs or issues to the HR Deployment Lead.
  • Contributes to manage the more complex OM matters and monitor and verify role and structure administration services within an ERP environment ensuring data accuracy, compliance and availability for management, audit and reporting purposes.
  • Champions new SAP solution adoption and works closely with HR (Recruitment and HR business partners) and payroll operations to ensure that the solution reflects organisational, and administrative processes.
  • Support team members to identify and resolve issues, work effectively with other teams and implement new ways of working.
  • Contribute to continual improvement in processes and systems functionality to ensure the new SAP solution meets business needs.

To be successful for the role, one must have:

  • Experience in HR and Organisational Management policies and procedures in government.
  • Detailed experience with Payroll processes, legislation and rules in government.
  • Experience with HR/Payroll and OM with SAP.
  • Strong stakeholder and communications skills to work with varied stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in onboarding, staff movements and offboarding processes and requirements.
  • Experience in organisational data management, data transformation and migration within a project environment.
  • Experience in the management of employee data, compliance, analysis and security.
  • Experience in time and leave processes and superannuation administration.
  • Knowledge of NSW Public Service employment conditions and Australian payroll rules.
