Job Title: Senior SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) Specialist
Location: Canberra, ACT (On-site)
Contract Type: 12 months Contract with possbility of extension
Clearance Required: Must be an Australian Citizen (Baseline Clearance or the ability to obtain one)

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Senior SAP HCM Specialists to support the delivery of key services within a large-scale shared services environment that supports over a dozen federal government entities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations, project support, and platform enhancements on a major SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud platform.

As a Senior SAP HCM Specialist, you will work across a multi-client environment, contributing to the design, implementation, and support of HCM solutions, while ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.



To be successful in this role you must:

  • Design and implement SAP HCM solutions in a shared SAP landscape
  • Provide technical support for the HCM Team, including resolving incidents and handling helpdesk tickets
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of business requirements and translate them into functional specifications

  • Advise on SAP HCM best practices and ensure alignment with client needs

  • Engage with end-users and business stakeholders to clarify processes

  • Support internal and external audits with configuration and transactional information

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the ERP Services group

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system changes

  • Participate in knowledge transfer and contribute to skill-sharing across the team



To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Minimum 10 years of SAP HCM experience, including deep expertise across ECC6.0 HCM modules such as:

    • Public Sector Personnel Administration

    • Time Management

    • Payroll

    • Organisational Management

    • Performance Management

    • Reporting

  • Strong knowledge of SAP HCM tables and data

  • Proven Master Data Management capabilities

  • Hands-on experience with tools such as:

    • Document Builder

    • DSM Object Sync

    • Query Manager

    • Variance Monitor

    • Config Commander

    • Spinifex

    • LSMW (Legacy System Migration Workbench)

  • Ability to develop functional specifications for technical teams

  • Skilled in translating business needs into technical solutions using standard SAP functionality

  • Excellent testing skills using real-world scenarios

  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Experience working in a shared services or multi-client environment

  • Australian Public Sector experience

  • Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager for maintaining functional documentation

  • Comfortable in multicultural team environments

  • Self-starter with excellent organisational and time management skill.
