Administration Officer

We are seeking an experienced Administration Officer to join a busy Finance team within a large and diverse public sector organisation.
This role is ideal for an administration or finance professional with strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills and the ability to manage data, financial transactions and property-related records accurately. Previous local government rating or finance experience would be highly regarded.
About the Role
You will be responsible for a range of administrative and financial activities supporting the accurate maintenance of rates and property-related records.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing rate levies, transfers, charge maintenance and rate-related journals.
- Maintaining accurate property and rating records.
- Reviewing financial transactions, rebates and adjustments for accuracy.
- Responding to internal and external customer enquiries via phone, email and other channels.
- Conducting data integrity checks and preparing reports.
- Processing rate adjustments, refunds and changes to property records.
- Supporting concessions, valuations and other rating-related activities.
- Investigating and resolving non-routine queries and discrepancies.
- Contributing to process improvements, system enhancements and testing of new software or upgrades.
- Working collaboratively with team members and providing support and knowledge sharing where required.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong administration and data-entry skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Previous experience working with financial transactions, property/rates administration or similar processes.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to investigate issues, solve problems and follow tasks through to completion.
- Strong time management and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and standard business systems.
- A positive, flexible and team-focused approach.
- The ability to learn new systems, processes and legislation quickly.
Previous local government rating experience or experience within a related finance environment is highly desirable. A current C Class driver's licence is also desirable.
