AO3 COMMUNICATION OFFICER – TOWNSVILLE, QLD
A major Queensland Government department is seeking an AO3 Communication Officer to support communications and stakeholder engagement activities across a wide range of planning, pre-construction and construction projects in the Northern District located in Townsville, QLD
This role plays an essential part in delivering clear, accessible, and community focused information, while supporting project teams with consistent communication outputs.
THE ROLE
The AO3 Communication Officer will work closely with program and engagement teams to develop high quality written materials and provide frontline communication support. This work helps ensure stakeholders remain informed and engaged, while enabling senior team members to focus on higher complexity matters and strategic initiatives.
Your work contributes directly to the delivery of communication and stakeholder engagement commitments across Queensland Government infrastructure projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare well written communication materials including correspondence, flyers, web updates, and social media posts
- Support stakeholder engagement activities for low risk projects
- Respond to enquiries received via the project phone line
- Develop and update project webpages and reporting analytics
- Prepare and distribute project flyers and updates
- Manage communication responses for low level stakeholder issues
- Source stakeholder contact details and property information, entering data into spreadsheets and consultation systems
- Assist with or attend stakeholder meetings with Project and Program Engagement Officers
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Strong written communication skills with an ability to deliver clear, accurate and audience-appropriate content
- Confidence engaging with community stakeholders on low risk matters
- Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and manage a varied workload
- Previous experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, administration or similar roles is highly regarded
- Experience with government communication processes is beneficial but not essential
