Application Developer (Java)

Location: Newmarket, Brisbane, QLD
Contract: ASAP start – 30 June 2026 (possible 6-month extension)
Pay rate:$100/hr + 12% super + GST

What you’ll be doing

• Designing, coding, testing, and deploying new and enhanced applications
• Analysing design options and balancing risks, benefits, and service quality
• Applying best practices (code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing)
• Supporting and maintaining existing in-house systems
• Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years with Enterprise Java (Java 17/21)
• Strong Oracle database skills (SQL, PL/SQL), Hibernate/JPA, Maven
• Front-end skills: JSF/Primefaces, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
• Testing frameworks: JUnit, Mockito, Selenium
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket
• Experience with Tomcat, IntelliJ/Eclipse, Unix/Windows deployments

EC4. Continuous Improvement
Give an example where you introduced or supported changes in approach or work practices that lifted software quality.

Tell us about a time you worked closely with colleagues to plan or deliver development activities and how you ensured technical knowledge was effectively shared.

Provide an example where you partnered with business or technical stakeholders to deliver a customer-focused solution.
