Position Summary

Reporting to the Team Leader, MF Core Systems team, the role provides senior technical consultation on management disciplines supporting the provision, availability and performance of IMS databases within IMS subsystems.

The incumbent must have an extensive knowledge of IMS database usage, including design and tuning of FullFunction & FastPath databases backup & recovery processes and system architecture and design. This includes the ability to provide expert technical problem diagnosis and resolution. This senior position requires the incumbent possess strong mentoring skills to support and direct more junior team members.

The role requires constant liaison with other technical support areas including PSSC (Production Services Support Centre) in order to provide effective service to customers.

Major Responsibilities

Leadership

• Provide technical leadership on all aspects of IMS database usage, performance and tuning and monitoring to other teams including other areas of Mainframe Technologies, Enterprise Storage and IT application support and development teams.
• Project Manage, direct and implement new functionality of IMS databases in partnership with application development teams and customers.
• Provide direction and input into identifying and implementing improvements to maximise stability, reduce costs and improve service levels of product usage.
  
  Customer & Service
  
• Effective liaison across technical teams and application development teams to plan and deliver solutions and services using IMS databases.
• Provide guidance and support to Business & Technical Managers ensuring key platform and service issues and concerns are dealt with.
• Deliver effective communication and education to mainframe customers and IT staff on efficient use of IMS databases including within HOGAN environments.
• Ensure high level of stability and usability is maintained and enhanced
  
  Technology/Solutions
• Mainframe performance and tuning consultation to ensure efficient use of IMS databases in IMS subsystems.
• Responsible for day-to-day functions relating to resolution of performance issues, availability and throughput of production environments using IMS databases.
  
  Qualifications
  Essential Skills
• High level of skill in IMS database administration including availability, capacity planning, performance tuning, recovery, security and data integrity.
• Expert knowledge of FullFunction & FastPath components of IMS
• A solid understanding of IBMs z/OS operating system.
• Experience with IBM & BMC IMS database utilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven Customer Focus and advocate of the business needs.
• Strong oral & written communication skills.
• Proven record in implementing and supporting technology services.
  
  Desired Skills
• IMS database administration in HOGAN environments.
• Experience with job scheduling - preferably Control/M
• Working knowledge of end-to-end technology services across ANZ including understanding of banking applications, other platforms, network connectivity, communications protocols and data storage technologies.
