Azure Infrastructure & Cloud Architect

Location: Canberra, Melbourne or Brisbane considered
Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home
Duration: 6 months, likely to extend
Security Clearance: Existing AGSVA NV1 or higher is mandatory

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Azure Infrastructure & Cloud Architect to lead the design, governance and implementation oversight of Azure cloud infrastructure and landing zone services.

You will provide technical leadership across Azure networking, security, identity, IaaS/PaaS, connectivity, resilience, monitoring and cloud governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Azure landing zone and cloud platform architecture.
• Design Azure networking, connectivity, DNS, routing and hybrid integration.
• Define Azure IaaS and PaaS architecture and deployment standards.
• Establish cloud governance, subscription and management group structures.
• Design security, identity, monitoring and logging capabilities.
• Support integration across Azure, Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365.
• Define high availability, disaster recovery and resilience requirements.
• Lead architecture workshops, design reviews and governance activities.
• Produce architecture documentation and implementation guidance.
• Manage technical risks, dependencies and architecture decisions.
• Support testing, operational readiness and transition to support.

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong Microsoft Azure architecture experience.
• Azure Landing Zones.
• Azure IaaS and PaaS.
• Azure Networking, Virtual WAN, Firewall, Private Endpoints and DNS.
• Microsoft Entra ID and Azure identity/access management.
• Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and security services.
• Cloud governance, policies and management groups.
• Hybrid cloud and enterprise connectivity.
• Disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Enterprise infrastructure architecture and design governance.
• Strong technical leadership and stakeholder engagement.

Desirable

• Azure landing zone experience within large enterprise or government environments.
• Experience delivering cloud solutions in secure or highly regulated environments.
• Microsoft 365 and Azure integration experience.
• Cloud operating model and operational readiness experience.
• Microsoft Azure expert-level certifications.
