BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYTICS ENGINEER Ana

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Business Intelligence Analytics Engineer to join a large, complex Queensland Government environment delivering modern, data driven solutions.

This role sits within a high performing data and analytics function and will focus on building and optimising analytics solutions within a modern Data Lakehouse platform, enabling actionable insights across the organisation.

You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to design scalable, high- uality data models and analytics products that support evidence based decision making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop and maintain analytics data models using dbt and Data Vault 2.0 methodologies
  • Build, optimise, and maintain data pipelines within a Lakehouse environment
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to improve data accessibility and usability
  • Optimise queries for performance and efficient analytics consumption
  • Implement best practices for data quality, monitoring, and automation
  • Contribute to analytics governance and supporting documentation

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • 2+ years’ experience working with Databricks
  • Strong background in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI development
  • Solid understanding of data modelling, governance, and performance optimisation
  • Experience working with Azure and modern data platforms
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Desirable:

  • Python development within Databricks
  • Data Lakehouse architecture experience
  • Data Vault 2.0 modelling
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Power BI development (DAX, Power Query)
  • Azure Data Factory pipelines and dataflows
