CAPITAL PROJECTS AND FIXED ASSETS ACCOUNTANT
An excellent short term opportunity has become available for an experienced Capital Projects and Fixed Assets Accountant to join a leading local government organisation in Noosa, QLD. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong technical skills across capital accounting, asset management, and statutory reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strategic financial advice and support across all stages of capital projects — from planning through to completion and capitalisation.
- Monitor and review the financial performance of capital works programs, including variance analysis and monthly capital reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile the organisation’s asset register to ensure compliance with accounting standards and reporting regulations.
- Support financial year-end processes, including statutory reporting, audit preparation, and asset capitalisation documentation.
- Liaise with project teams, engineers, and asset managers to ensure accurate financial recognition of assets and project information.
- Participate in annual asset revaluation processes and assist in preparing supporting documentation for auditors.
ABOUT YOU:
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in asset and capital accounting within local government or a similar environment.
- Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and Local Government financial regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
ON OFFER:
- Initial 3 to 4 month contract with potential for extension
- Based in beautiful Noosa, QLD
