The Opportunity
In this role, you will lead the delivery of enterprise-grade cloud solutions aligned to strategic architecture, security, and regulatory frameworks. Working closely with Cloud Architects and Security teams, you will ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and compliant with Australian defence standards.
You will also be instrumental in uplifting internal capability—driving adoption of Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of Azure-based cloud solutions using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for infrastructure and application deployments
- Design and implement Azure Landing Zones aligned with best practice frameworks
- Translate high-level architecture into secure, scalable, and automated implementations
- Embed security, governance, and compliance controls across cloud environments
- Drive cloud cost optimisation
- Collaborate with architects, security, and business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams
- Deliver training and uplift capability in Azure and Terraform across the organisation
About You
You are a hands-on cloud leader with a passion for automation, security, and scalable design. You thrive in complex environments and enjoy enabling teams to succeed,
You have the ability to hold and maintain a Australian Defence Security Clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1
Core Skills & Experience:
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure(networking, compute, storage, identity, governance, AKS)
- Strong Terraform experience (modular design, state management, automation)
- Proven experience with Azure DevOps(pipelines, repos, artifacts, release management)
- Solid understanding of cloud security best practices
- Scripting capability in PowerShell and/or Bash
- Experience with Git and modern version control workflows
- Experience working with Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Well-Architected Framework (WAF)
Highly Regarded
- Experience with Azure Policy, Blueprints, and Landing Zone architecture
- Exposure to defence or highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with ASD, ISM, and PSPF frameworks
- Azure certifications (e.g. AZ-305 – Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
