About the Role
This role sits within Corporate Finance as part of the Commercial Evaluation and Advisory team, operating within a broader government environment. The team is focused on delivering strategic, data driven financial and commercial insights rather than traditional finance operations. It works closely with business units to provide analysis that informs executive level decision making, particularly in relation to cost recovery, service efficiency, and investment prioritisation.
The Financial Data Analyst plays a key role in delivering complex financial modelling and commercial analysis across a wide range of projects. The role contributes to business case development, cost benefit analysis, and financial impact assessments that support budget bids and strategic programs. Projects are often varied and non routine, offering exposure across different business areas and requiring the ability to interpret financial data in a broader commercial and operational context. The role is both analytical and advisory, requiring a strong ability to translate data into meaningful insights that inform business strategy.
Working as part of a small, high performing team, this position will lead smaller pieces of analysis end to end while also contributing to larger, multi layered modelling exercises led by senior team members. The individual will collaborate with managers and stakeholders across the organisation, supporting multiple concurrent projects. While not directly responsible for presenting to executives, the role contributes to materials presented at senior levels and may be involved in discussions to explain modelling assumptions, outputs, and insights.
There is a strong focus on developing well rounded capability. The successful candidate will be supported to strengthen both technical expertise and communication skills, including stakeholder engagement and presentation capability. The role requires someone who is proactive, curious, and motivated to learn, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders and the ability to work independently in a fast paced, project driven environment.
