The Credit Risk Analyst is responsible for assessing credit applications from new and existing customers, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a smooth process. Very specifically we need someone experience with R, SQL and Python!
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Risk Assessment
- Evaluate credit applications for new/existing customers to determine their creditworthiness.
- Analyse customer data, credit reports, and existing account history to assess risk.
- Ensure all assessments comply with relevant laws (e.g., Privacy Laws, Trade Practices Act, Credit Act).
- Review and audit accounts activated outside company's guidelines and provide feedback to managers.
- Fraud and Risk Mitigation
- Use analytical tools and resources like credit bureaus, customer databases, and external agents to detect and minimise risks.
- Investigate customer documentation and ensure compliance with Company's policies.
- Conduct thorough assessments to reduce bad debt and fraud losses.
- Team Collaboration and Reporting
- Work closely with internal teams such as Billing, Collections, and Customer Success, and provide updates to managers on account decisions.
- Create monthly reports to track credit approvals/declines and identify process improvements.
- Customer and Dealer Interaction
- Communicate effectively with dealers and customers to provide timely updates on credit applications.
- Handle queries professionally and ensure low levels of complaints/escalations.
Skills and Requirements:
- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment practices and tools.
- Again, R, SQL and python experience
- Excellent analytical and investigative skills in credit and risk evaluation.
- Attention to detail to identify discrepancies in documentation and data.
- Ability to make decisions on creditworthiness based on customer data and financial analysis.
- Comfortable applying business rules and criteria to manage risks.
- Knowledge of Company's policies and legal obligations (e.g., PCI rules, TIO regulations).
- Effective communication skills to provide high-quality service and resolve issues at first contact.
