About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Cyber Security Architect to provide strategic architectural leadership across a major Cyber Uplift Program. This is a senior role responsible for establishing and governing the target-state cyber security architecture across multiple delivery streams, ensuring security initiatives align with enterprise architecture, government policy, legislative requirements and industry best practice.

You will provide technical leadership, architectural assurance and design authority throughout the program lifecycle, translating strategic cyber security outcomes into practical and implementable solutions that deliver measurable cyber risk reduction.

Working closely with program and project managers, business analysts, cyber security specialists, technical delivery teams and operational stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring successful delivery and transition of cyber security capabilities into operational environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead cyber security architecture activities across multiple concurrent program initiatives.
• Establish and maintain cyber security architecture principles, standards and reusable design patterns.
• Provide architectural governance and ensure consistency across program initiatives.
• Provide architectural leadership across discovery, design, implementation and operational transition.
• Provide architecture assurance and design governance throughout project lifecycles.
• Ensure solutions align with agreed standards, strategic direction and operational objectives.
• Support delivery teams in translating architecture into practical technical outcomes.
• Ensure solution architecture and delivery activities align with enterprise architecture, cyber security frameworks, government policy, legislation and relevant industry standards.
• Provide expert technical advice across the program.
• Mentor architects and technical specialists where appropriate.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to technical, business and executive audiences.
• Monitor emerging cyber security trends, technologies and industry practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve architectural capability, consistency and maturity.
• Promote the reuse of established architecture patterns and standards.
• Provide technical leadership for procurement activities, technology evaluations and vendor solution assessments.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of cyber security capability and delivery practices.

About You

You will be a senior cyber security architecture professional with extensive experience leading security architecture across complex transformation programs. You will be comfortable operating strategically while remaining close enough to delivery teams to guide implementation and resolve architectural challenges.

Essential and Highly Desirable Experience

• 10+ years' experience in cyber security architecture and technical leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience leading architecture across large, complex transformation programs.
• Experience developing enterprise security architectures and capability roadmaps.
• Strong understanding of Australian Government cyber security frameworks and requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in architecture governance and design assurance.
• Ability to operate strategically while supporting delivery teams through implementation.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide trusted technical advice to executives.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working within large government, highly regulated or similarly complex environments.
• Technical & Framework Experience

Experience with the following will be highly regarded:

• Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) Information Security Manual (ISM).
• ASD Essential Eight.
• NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0.
• ISO/IEC 27001.
• SABSA and/or TOGAF.
• Microsoft security technologies.
• Identity platforms, including Entra ID, Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) and Privileged Access Management (PAM).
• Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Security Operations.
• Cloud security platforms.
• Zero Trust and Conditional Access.
• Endpoint security

Qualifications & Certifications

Mandatory, or equivalent demonstrated experience:

CISSP.

Highly desirable:

• SABSA Foundation or Practitioner.
• TOGAF certification.
• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• ASD Essential Eight Assessor.
• CRISC, CISM or equivalent industry certification.
• Work Arrangements

This role is based primarily at Carseldine. The current working arrangements require staff to work from the office a minimum of 50% of the time.

Resources are managed as part of a broader resource pool and may be reassigned to other projects to meet business requirements. This may occur during the engagement or upon completion of the current project. Future assignments may be based at either Carseldine or Brisbane CBD, so candidates must be willing and able to work from either location when required.
