Cyber Security Engineer / Senior Systems Engineer

📍 Remote – Anywhere in Australia
🕒 6 months contracting role with strong potential of extensions

Our client is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer / Senior Systems Engineer to join its Cyber Security Program Team, supporting enterprise security uplift across IT and OT environments.

This role is a 70% project delivery / 30% BAU split, with a strong focus on Privileged Access Management (PAM), Privileged Remote Access (PRA), and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) implementations.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and onboard enterprise PAM/PRA and ZTNA platforms, migrating applications and access pathways to approved patterns

• Deliver security uplift across identity, endpoint protection, SIEM, OT monitoring, and Zero Trust access

• Prioritise and execute vulnerability remediation and system hardening with internal teams and MSSP partners

• Prepare change requests, maintain documentation, and work within approved designs and standards

• Collaborate with Cyber Security, Technology Operations, vendors, and service providers

• Troubleshoot issues independently and mentor team members where required

Key Skills & Experience

• 4+ years’ experience in security engineering or systems administration

• Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, MFA, SSO

• Hands-on experience with PAM/PRA platforms(CyberArk, Delinea, BeyondTrust)

• Exposure to Zero Trust technologies(e.g. Cloudflare Zero Trust)

• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, vulnerability management tools(Qualys, Tenable, MDVM)

• Solid background in Windows/Linux, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure infrastructure

• Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, ARM/Bicep, Terraform) highly regarded

• OT, mining, or resources sector experience beneficial but not essential
