Data Engineer – Business Intelligence & Analytics

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a forward-thinking team driving digital transformation and delivering high-value insights to support decision-making that impacts millions of residents every day.
The Role
As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-scale Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, contribute to solution design, and ensure the delivery of reliable, insightful reporting.
This role is well-suited to someone who thrives in Agile environments, values collaboration, and brings strong technical expertise with the Microsoft Azure data stack.
Key Responsibilities

Translate business requirements into robust data solutions.

Collaborate with analysts, developers, and stakeholders to deliver business reporting objectives.

Design and document solutions including data models, measure definitions, and source-to-target mappings.

Develop ETL/ELT processes for Azure Synapse Analytics using pipelines, ADLS2, SQL Stored Procedures, ADX, and Python.

Maintain source code with Azure DevOps.

Build and manage semantic models and reports using Power BI and Azure Analysis Services.

Conduct unit testing and ensure the reliability of delivered solutions.
Skills & Experience
-
5+ years’ experience in technical Analytics or Business Intelligence roles.

5+ years’ experience with Microsoft SQL databases and Azure Synapse Analytics.

Strong expertise in SQL, Power BI, and DAX.

Working knowledge of Python, JSON, and KQL.

Experience with large, complex Data Warehouses in cloud-based environments (Azure or similar).

Familiarity with Agile delivery methods and collaborative working practices.
