Our public sector client is seeking an experienced FIFO Safety, Health, and Well-being Coordinator to lead safety excellence across their regional operations for an initial 6-months contract.
You'll be the cornerstone of workplace safety, ensuring that every team member returns home safely by implementing robust safety standards and navigating complex legislative requirements.
What You'll Be Doing
Safety Leadership & Compliance
- Ensure all site operations comply with corporate SHW standards and current WHS legislation to minimise risks and prevent injuries.
- Drive workforce participation in safety protocols, ensuring all team members understand their specific roles and responsibilities.
- Oversee the technical competency of the workforce, ensuring all plant and equipment operators hold valid licenses and certifications.
Risk Management & Strategy
- Develop, recommend, and implement comprehensive Health and Safety Plans tailored to project needs.
- Identify workplace hazards and implement innovative controls to eliminate the risk of accidents.
- Lead safety risk assessments prior to the commencement of new projects or work programs.
- Conduct thorough incident investigations and perform site audits to implement continuous improvement.
Training & Support
- Coordinate and deliver safety inductions and work practices training for all employees and contractors.
- Provide specialist support for incident reporting, utilising internal safety management modules to ensure data integrity and timely event management.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key liaison between regional work crews, project managers, and corporate safety departments.
- Build collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, including local government authorities and contractors, to align safety expectations.
What You'll Bring:
- Deep knowledge of WHS legislation and experience managing safety within high-risk environments (e.g., construction, maintenance, or civil works).
- The ability to review complex work practices and facilities to assess risk and implement corrective actions.
- Influence safety behaviours across all levels of the organisation.
