Rate:$100 per hour plus 12 percent superannuation plus GST if ABN
Location: Brisbane CBD and Newstead
Work pattern: Hybrid with 2 days per week onsite. More onsite during onboarding, then a steady rhythm once embedded

The role

We are hiring a Full Stack Java Developer to replace a departing team member and drive a program of modernisation and consolidation. This is hands on end to end development across multiple applications. The work sits with the Platform Manager rather than a project manager, so you will have real autonomy and direct access to business stakeholders at Mary Street.

What you will do

• Deliver end to end features across back end and front end
• Modernise and consolidate existing platforms and services
• Lift and shift into new builds rather than maintain legacy code
• Engage directly with the business to clarify requirements and ask the right questions even when a BA is not available
• Collaborate with at least two other developers and cross functional teams to ship secure reliable releases

Required skills and experience

• Strong commercial experience with Java 17 and Java 21 and a clear path away from Java 8 and Java 12
• Proven full stack delivery across APIs services and a modern web front end
• Demonstrated success in modernisation projects and consolidation of platforms
• High autonomy with the ability to self direct without constant guidance
• Strong business engagement skills and clear communication with non technical stakeholders
• Proven collaboration within cross team environments
• Brisbane based with full Australian working rights

Work location and expectations

• Three days per week onsite
• Thursdays in Newstead for team day
• Wednesdays at Mary Street in the CBD as project needs require
• One additional onsite day each week aligned to delivery needs
• More onsite time expected during onboarding
