Graph Engineer – Contract Role
Location:
Melbourne (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)
Contract:
6 months (high likelihood of extension)
We are seeking an experienced Graph Engineer to design, build, and optimise RDF-based knowledge graph solutions. This role will focus on semantic modelling, ontology development, and graph database engineering to support scalable querying and data integration across complex domains.
Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and optimise RDF graph databases and triple stores

Build and manage data ingestion pipelines integrating multiple data sources

Develop scalable ontologies and taxonomies using OWL and RDFS
-
Perform semantic mapping to align disparate datasets into a unified knowledge graph

Ensure data integrity using SHACL or ShEx constraints

Develop efficient SPARQL queries and graph-based APIs
-
Support Graph DevOps practices including automated validation, testing, and CI/CD
-
Collaborate with data, analytics, and domain teams to deliver semantic use cases

Provide technical guidance and mentorship on RDF and knowledge graph technologies
Required Skills & Experience

Strong expertise in RDF, SPARQL, OWL semantic standards

3–5+ years’ experience delivering RDF-based knowledge graph solutions

Hands-on experience with graph databases/triple stores (e.g., Stardog, Neo4j, Jena, Amazon Neptune)

Strong background in data integration and ingestion pipelines

Proficiency with Python and SQL

Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Terraform, Git

Familiarity deploying graph solutions in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Nice to Have

Knowledge graph integration with AI/ML solutions

Experience with Graph-RAG patterns supporting LLMs

Exposure to time-series or data virtualisation technologies
