About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Graphic Designer to join a Queensland Government department on a contract basis, supporting a high-performing communications and stakeholder engagement team across North Queensland.
This role is ideal for a creative professional who enjoys transforming complex information into engaging, accessible and impactful visual communications. You'll work across a diverse portfolio of print, digital and video projects that support community engagement, strategic initiatives and stakeholder communications.
Working closely with executives, project teams and communication professionals, you'll deliver high-quality creative solutions while ensuring compliance with government branding, accessibility standards and communication best practices.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

Design and deliver creative solutions across print, digital, video and online platforms.

Produce a wide variety of communication materials including brochures, publications, newsletters, presentations, social media content, digital advertising, displays, maps and videos.

Provide expert graphic design and visual communication advice to internal stakeholders and project teams.

Translate complex information into clear, engaging and audience-focused visual content.

Ensure all creative outputs comply with corporate branding and accessibility standards (WCAG).

Manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering work to a high standard and within tight deadlines.

Liaise with external suppliers including printers, photographers, illustrators, videographers and other creative specialists.

Stay current with emerging design trends and contribute to continuous improvement across the communications function.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support strategic communication and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
About You
You will bring:
-
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite(Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro).

Experience producing creative work within large corporate or government environments.
-
Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and accessible document creation.

Strong visual communication and conceptual design skills.

Excellent project management, organisational and time management abilities.
-
Experience working within established corporate branding and style guides.
-
Outstanding stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
-
A strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Desirable Experience
-
Five or more years' experience in graphic design, visual communication or digital design.

Tertiary qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Previous Queensland Government or public sector experience will be highly regarded.
