Our client, in the public sector, is seeking a Health and Safety Officer for a 4-month contract.

You’ll play an important role in maintaining and improving the organisation’s safety management systems. You’ll provide hands-on support with day-to-day safety administration, assist in developing and implementing health, safety, and wellbeing programs, and help ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Administer and maintain the organisation’s online safety management systems.

• Support the planning, development, and delivery of health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives, including training programs.

• Respond to and triage health and safety queries across various divisions.

• Assist with workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident management.

• Contribute to the development and review of safety policies, procedures, and governance documentation.

• Participate in projects and initiatives that enhance organisational safety culture and performance.

• Take part in fire management activities, including bushfire suppression and prescribed burns, depending on skills and experience.

What You'll Bring:

• A basic understanding of health and safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Proficiency in computer systems, data entry, and online management tools.

Desirable:

• Experience or knowledge of workplace health and safety principles.

• A current driver’s licence.

• Willingness to participate in fire management and prescribed burning activities, where required.
