Position Title: Informix DBA – Mainframe/Unix Environment
Location: Melbourne,Sydney
Employment Type: Contract
Clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen (Baseline Clearance preferred)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Informix Database Administrator to support our client’s mission-critical systems running on Mainframe and Unix platforms. This is a customer-facing role that requires strong technical expertise, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to work in a dynamic, high-availability environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform Informix database maintenance, including patching, upgrades, and performance tuning, in a Mainframe/Unix environment.

• Provide 24x7 support, including shift work and after-hours on-call duties.

• Deliver operational and technical support to application teams and management.

• Conduct in-depth analysis of problem tickets, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.

• Monitor systems, respond to alerts, and optimise performance.

• Proactively suggest and implement innovative solutions using modern database technologies.

• Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across different levels.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Australian Citizenship is required.

• Baseline clearance highly desirable (or ability to obtain).

Skills & Experience:

• 3–5 years of proven experience in Informix database administration.

• Strong background in database sustainment, including incident management and troubleshooting.

• Experience collaborating with development teams to improve database performance and reliability.

• Knowledge of operational monitoring and alert management tools.

• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
