Java Developer – Mainframe & Legacy Systems Support
Are you an experienced Java developer with a passion for supporting and modernizing legacy applications in mission-critical environments? We are looking for a skilled professional to join our team, providing comprehensive technical support and innovation for mainframe/Solaris-hosted applications.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and optimize legacy Java applications to ensure stability, usability, and minimal downtime.

Conduct thorough testing and deliver responsive end-user support for legacy systems.

Support and improve technical environments, including scheduling, transaction processing, middleware, and surrounding platforms.

Provide in-depth analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of problem tickets and technical incidents.

Perform operational monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning across supported applications.
-
Proactively identify and implement innovative solutions aligned with current technology trends.
-
Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships; advise on solutions at various organizational levels.

Deliver reliable 24/7 application support, including participation in on-call rosters.
Mandatory Requirements:

Australian citizenship is essential.

Baseline security clearance recommended.
Desired Skills and Experience:
-
3–5 years' hands-on experience in Java development, particularly in legacy and mainframe/Solaris environments.

Proficiency in XML and XSLT technologies.

Solid understanding of software development and maintenance processes for mainframe environments.

Strong automation experience, ideally using REXX scripting.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to New Ways of Working (NWoW), including Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence, Kanban, Sprint).

Technical expertise in application control for mainframe architecture, middleware, and associated tooling.

In-depth knowledge and experience with batch technology from a development perspective.
