Modern Workplace Technical Architect

Location: Canberra, ACT
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Contract: 6 months, with likely extensions and potential permanent conversion
Security Clearance: Existing AGSVA NV1 or higher required

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Modern Workplace Technical Architect to provide end-to-end technical leadership across a large-scale technology program.

You will oversee architecture alignment, solution design, security requirements, and technical governance across Microsoft 365 and modern workplace services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide architecture leadership across multiple Modern Workplace workstreams.
• Define and govern Microsoft 365 target-state architecture.
• Review and approve solution designs, technical standards, and architecture decisions.
• Lead technical design reviews and architecture workshops.
• Ensure alignment across identity, security, collaboration, cloud, and end-user computing.
• Manage technical dependencies, risks, and design trade-offs.
• Support solution delivery, operational transition, and technical handover.

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong Microsoft 365 Solution Architecture experience.
• Microsoft Entra ID and Intune.
• Microsoft Teams, Teams Phone, and Exchange Online.
• SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Purview.
• Windows 11, Windows Autopilot, and Windows 365.
• Identity and Access Management.
• Security, compliance, and Azure cloud architecture.
• Enterprise architecture governance and technical design authority leadership.
• Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.

Desirable Experience

• Large-scale Microsoft 365 transformation programs.
• Government or highly regulated environments.
• Secure cloud and modern workplace transformation.
• Experience leading architecture across multiple enterprise workstreams.
• Microsoft Modern Workplace or Azure architecture certifications.
