MONITORING SPECIALIST
We are currently seeking an experienced Monitoring Specialist to support a large and complex enterprise environment, leading a strategic uplift of monitoring and observability capabilities.
This is a key contract role focused on assessing current monitoring practices and designing a future state that enables more proactive, reliable and efficient service delivery.
ROLE DETAILS
This role will lead a comprehensive review of the existing monitoring landscape across infrastructure, network, security and cloud environments. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to identify gaps, reduce duplication and define a clear roadmap for uplift and optimisation.
You will play a key role in shaping how monitoring supports service reliability, operational performance and decision making across the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct a current state assessment of monitoring tools, alerting, dashboards and workflows
- Analyse alert quality, noise levels and operational effectiveness
- Identify gaps, overlaps and opportunities for consolidation
- Engage stakeholders across operations, security, infrastructure, cloud and delivery teams
- Facilitate workshops to gather and prioritise monitoring requirements
- Perform structured options analysis across tools and approaches
- Define a future state monitoring capability and guiding principles
- Develop a clear and actionable uplift roadmap
- Produce documentation suitable for technical and executive audiences
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- You are an experienced professional with a strong background in monitoring, observability or IT operations, and have worked within large or complex environments.
- You bring a strategic mindset and are confident engaging with stakeholders to translate technical capability into meaningful business outcomes.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience assessing and designing enterprise monitoring or observability solutions
- Strong knowledge across infrastructure, network, security and cloud monitoring
- Experience with monitoring platforms such as SIEM and modern observability tools
- Demonstrated experience delivering current state assessments and future state designs
- Ability to conduct structured analysis and provide clear recommendations
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
- Experience developing roadmaps, strategies and executive level outputs
- Understanding of IT service management and service reliability practices
