Role Overview
As a Principal Archer Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in supporting and enhancing the Archer IRM platform and associated solutions. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing new capabilities, improving existing solutions, performing maintenance activities, and ensuring robustness through thorough testing and defect remediation. Working within an agile environment, you will collaborate closely with project teams, contribute to sprint planning, and deliver solutions that meet complex business requirements. This role offers a unique chance to engage with modern cybersecurity frameworks, build custom applications, and optimise data management on a large scale, while supporting Australia’s government agencies.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience with Archer IRM platform core features, including application installation, setup, configuration, and customisation of workflows, dashboards, reports, and data feeds
- Proven ability to build and manage solutions within Archer including user authentication, access controls, permissions, LDAP integrations, and advanced workflows
- Strong expertise in developing and managing API integrations, data models, and handling large datasets efficiently (tens of millions of records)
- Practical experience in configuring system integrations via Archer API, REST APIs, and data publication services
- Familiarity with agile project methodologies, JIRA for backlog management, and developer planning
- Sound knowledge of cyber security frameworks such as PSPF, ISM, NIST, and the Essential 8 Strategies
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimise Archer IRM load balancing, workload management, and performance tuning
Nice to Have Skills
- Knowledge of Elastic and Hadoop systems
- Archer IRM certification (beneficial but not mandatory)
- Experience with Auth Broker technology and Jira advanced features
- Exposure to automation, scripting, and manual data ingestion processes
Preferred Education and Experience
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years experience in system engineering, application development, or platform administration within Archer IRM environments
- Prior experience working within government or large enterprise settings, supporting security and risk management solutions
Other Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain Baseline Security Clearance
- Willingness to work onsite at Canberra for the initial six weeks, then adopt a hybrid working arrangement within reasonable proximity to Canberra, Melbourne, or Adelaide
- 12 months contract with 24 months extension option
