Principal Business Analyst – Cyber Security

Location: Fortitude Valley, Brisbane

The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Principal Business Analysts to support a major cyber security transformation program within a large, complex healthcare ICT environment.

This is a senior delivery role suited to a confident BA who can lead end-to-end analysis across enterprise-scale cyber security initiatives. You will work closely with project leadership, technical teams, vendors and senior stakeholders to define business requirements, validate solutions, shape business cases and support the successful delivery of critical security uplift initiatives.

The program will focus on cyber security technologies and controls including Multi-Factor Authentication, Data Loss Prevention, Network Security, Security Governance and Microsoft Entra ID.

About the Role

Reporting to the Project Director, you will lead business analysis activities across one or more cyber security initiatives. You will be responsible for producing high-quality requirements, process models, business cases and solution documentation that can support executive decision-making and successful delivery.

This role requires someone who can operate in ambiguity, work across complex stakeholder groups and translate business needs into clear, practical and technically sound requirements.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading business analysis activities across large-scale cyber security and ICT projects.
  • Eliciting, analysing and documenting functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining process models, gap analysis, future-state models and traceability documentation.
  • Supporting the development of robust business cases for enterprise-wide technology and security initiatives.
  • Facilitating workshops with senior stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve competing priorities and drive alignment.
  • Reviewing vendor-produced documentation and identifying gaps, risks and quality issues.
  • Working closely with project teams, vendors, technical specialists and business stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood and validated.
  • Maintaining high-quality documentation standards through review, feedback and approval stages.
  • Supporting the transition of deliverables through governance, assurance and executive approval processes.
  • Providing mentoring, guidance and support to other business analysts where required.

About You

To be successful, you will bring proven experience as a senior or principal-level Business Analyst working on complex ICT programs, ideally within cyber security, healthcare, government or large enterprise environments.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong experience leading business analysis activities across large IM/ICT projects.
  • Prior exposure to cyber security projects, technologies or controls.
  • Experience developing business cases for large-scale technology or security transformation initiatives.
  • Strong capability across requirements elicitation, validation, process modelling and documentation.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into clear functional and technical specifications.
  • Experience working within complex stakeholder environments with multiple business, technical and vendor groups.
  • Strong workshop facilitation skills, including with senior and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Experience reviewing and validating vendor deliverables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High-level knowledge of business analysis frameworks, methodologies and tools, ideally aligned to BABOK.
  • Ability to mentor other BAs and contribute to strong delivery standards across a program.

Highly Regarded Experience

The following experience will be highly regarded:

  • Cyber security domain experience across MFA, DLP, Microsoft Entra ID, RSA SecurID, Secure Workforce Access or network security.
  • Experience with security governance, risk management frameworks or cyber security maturity uplift.
  • Exposure to security compliance frameworks or policies, including IS18 or similar.
  • Experience within healthcare, government or other large regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of modern security architecture concepts.
  • Experience contributing to the financial justification of security controls or business cases.

Working Conditions

This role is expected to be delivered on a full-time onsite basis in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.

Reasonable travel may be required as negotiated. An open C class driver’s licence is desirable.
