Business Analyst – Legacy System Replacement Project

We’re supporting a major government program that is replacing a large legacy platform with a modern solution. This is a long-term engagement where you’ll play a genuine leadership role in shaping the analysis, future state design and overall direction of the program.

Role Details
- Location: Brisbane CBD
- Work Model: Hybrid
- Contract: 08 December 2025 to 30 November 2026
- Pay Rate:$121.92 per hour
- Superannuation:$14.63 per hour (12 percent)
- ABN: Rate + GST if engaged via ABN
About the Role
You’ll lead the core analysis for a full legacy system replacement. That means getting close to the business, understanding how things work today, and helping shape what the future should look like. You’ll work with a mix of operational teams, technical leads and project stakeholders who genuinely value clear thinking and strong communication.
Your work feeds directly into service improvement for frontline teams and the wider community, so the impact is real and visible.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Building a clear picture of current state processes and pain points
- Identifying gaps in the legacy system and where improvements are needed
- Leading requirements for the new solution and defining future state processes
- Creating process maps, specs, user stories and other project documentation
- Running workshops, interviews and working sessions with stakeholders
- Working alongside technical teams to ensure business and system design stay aligned
- Contributing to the business case including problem definition, options, benefits and risk
- Supporting change and training activities as the program progresses
What You Bring
- Strong BA experience on large system replacement or modernisation work
- Comfortable analysing complex environments and simplifying them for decision makers
- Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels
- Skilled in tools like Visio, JIRA and Confluence
- Good understanding of solution architecture concepts and data migration
- Experience working in Agile or structured project environments
- Government experience or familiarity with QGEA is a bonus but not essential
