We are partnering with a large, highly regulated public sector organisation in Brisbane to recruit a senior security and infrastructure leader to establish and lead a newly created Security Standards function.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a strategic leadership role where you will shape statewide standards across electronic security systems, physical security, cyber security alignment and operational security governance in a high-risk, mission-critical environment.
This role suits someone who has operated at senior levels in complex security environments and knows how to convert strategy into real-world protection, controls and standards.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Establishing and leading a new Security Standards Unit
- Setting statewide security policies, frameworks and governance
across:
- Electronic security systems
- Physical security
- Procedural and personnel security
- Developing and owning:
- Protective Security Policy aligned to Queensland security frameworks
- Cyber security roadmap for Operational Technology
- Annual cyber security attestation aligned to ISO 27001
- Infrastructure design standards for secure facilities
- Infrastructure risk management framework for security prioritisation
- Leading security system governance, including:
- System performance audits and KPIs
- Threat and risk management
- Executive-level reporting and escalation
- Partnering with digital, ICT and infrastructure teams to ensure:
- Secure system design
- Ongoing system availability
- Cyber and physical security alignment
- Representing the organisation on key security and information governance committees
- Leading a specialist team and setting clear delivery, accountability and capability standards
What We Are Looking For
Proven senior leadership experience across complex electronic security systems in environments such as:
- Corrections
- Defence
- Transport
- Utilities
- High-security infrastructure
- Strong background in:
- Security policy and governance frameworks
- High-risk infrastructure standards
Confident engagement at Executive and senior stakeholder level
- Strong commercial and strategic capability
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder leadership skills
- Sound governance experience across major infrastructure or technology programs
- Ability to lead and embed change across complex organisations
Desirable (Not Essential)
Engineering qualification (Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical)
Cyber, PLC or Operational Technology security certification
Formal Project Management certification
Location & Flexibility
- Brisbane CBD based
- Hybrid model – up to 2 days from home
- Some travel across Queensland may be required
- Occasional out-of-hours work may be required
Contract & Engagement
- Daily contract
- PAYG or ABN + GST supported
- Rate: $155.90 per hour + Super
- Long-term engagement with strong extension potential
