An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and highly driven Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major state convention to be held in Adelaide in mid-August 2026.
This high-profile event will host approximately 1,500 attendees and will be attended by senior dignitaries and executive leadership. It is a strategic priority initiative requiring strong leadership, pace and precision in delivery.
This is a full-time contract role through to approximately September 2026, with potential for extension. An immediate start is preferred.
About the Role
Reporting to senior leadership, the Project Manager will take end-to-end responsibility for planning, coordinating and delivering the 2026 convention.
You will lead all phases of the project life cycle — from detailed planning and stakeholder coordination through to on-the-day execution and post-event closeout.
This role requires a proactive, solutions-focused operator who can confidently engage senior stakeholders and drive momentum across multiple work streams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of a large-scale, high-profile convention
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets and risk frameworks
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and working groups
- Manage high-level stakeholder engagement, including executive offices and VIPs
- Oversee venue coordination and supplier management
- Prepare executive briefings and governance reporting
- Ensure event readiness, logistics coordination and operational execution
- Manage post-event reporting and evaluation activities
About You
You are a senior-level project or event professional with demonstrated experience delivering large-scale, high-profile events or programs.
You will bring:
- Proven experience at a senior Project Manager level
- Strong background in large-scale event or convention delivery
- Experience operating within complex stakeholder environments
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, including experience supporting executive-level audiences
- Strong governance, reporting and briefing capability
- Ability to work at pace, anticipate risks and drive outcomes
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to maintain momentum and accountability
