Psychosocial Risk & Assurance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Psychosocial Risk & Assurance Specialist to join a large and diverse public sector organisation. This is a key role within the Health, Safety & Wellbeing function, focused on strengthening psychosocial risk management, governance, assurance and organisational capability.

You will play a leading role in developing and continuously improving psychosocial health and safety frameworks, providing specialist advice, and supporting leaders and teams to identify, assess and effectively manage psychosocial hazards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of psychosocial risk management frameworks, policies, procedures and supporting tools.
• Provide specialist advice on psychosocial hazards, psychological health and safety obligations, and contemporary risk management practices.
• Lead psychosocial risk assessments and support leaders to implement sustainable risk controls.
• Analyse organisational data, including injury management, workers compensation, employee feedback, absenteeism, turnover and complaints, to identify emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and deliver education, training and awareness initiatives to build organisational capability.
• Develop governance, reporting and assurance mechanisms and contribute to audits, reviews and investigations.
• Provide reports, recommendations and executive briefings to leadership and governance forums.
• Lead psychosocial safety initiatives and projects, including planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management and benefits realisation.
• Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on psychosocial risk management and psychologically safe leadership.
• Facilitate workshops, consultations and engagement activities with a diverse range of stakeholders.

What we're looking for

You will ideally bring:

• A degree in Workplace Health & Safety, Psychology, Organisational Psychology, Human Resources, Organisational Development, Risk Management or a related discipline, or substantial relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, associated regulations and the Managing the Risk of Psychosocial Hazards at Work Code of Practice 2022.
• Demonstrated experience identifying, assessing and controlling psychosocial hazards within complex organisations.
• Strong understanding of psychosocial risk management frameworks and organisational psychology principles.
• Experience developing and implementing psychological health and safety strategies, frameworks or programs.
• Strong analytical capability, with the ability to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Proven ability to influence, coach and build capability across all levels of an organisation.
• Strong facilitation, consultation, project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Excellent written communication skills, including experience preparing reports, executive briefings, policies and governance documentation.
• The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities in a complex environment.

A current C class driver's licence is also required.
