Research Support Officer – Records Archivist (APS5 equivalent)
Contract Role | Hybrid | Multiple Locations

We are seeking experienced Research Support Officers / Records Archivists (APS5 equivalent) to support a federal government program focused on records and information management. This is a short term contract role. With positions available across QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW and SA. The role operates in a hybrid working environment and candidates Must have a Baseline security clearance.

This role will support the review, classification, sentencing and disposal of digital and physical records in accordance with legislative and organisational records management requirements. Working within a collaborative information and records management team, you will contribute to maintaining compliant records management practices while supporting audits, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review digital and physical records to ensure appropriate classification and sentencing in line with approved Records Authorities

  • Apply records classification and sentencing to files using Content Manager (TRIM) and Microsoft 365

  • Identify records that have reached or exceeded their retention period

  • Prepare records for disposal including required documentation and approvals in line with legislation and agency policy

  • Conduct authorised records disposal activities in accordance with approved disposal schedules and procedures

  • Maintain accurate documentation and registers of disposal actions

  • Provide guidance to business areas on records classification, sentencing and retention requirements

  • Work collaboratively with the Information and Records Management team to maintain consistent records management practices

  • Assist with records management audits, reviews and compliance reporting

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of records and information management processes and documentation

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in records or archives management in a digital environment

  • Knowledge of the Archives Act 1983 and Australian Government records management requirements

  • Experience applying records classification and sentencing using approved disposal authorities

  • Experience using Content Manager (TRIM)

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Additional Information

  • Contract duration: Short term

  • Working arrangements: Hybrid

  • Maximum hours: Up to 40 hours per week

  • Security clearance: Must have a Baseline clearance
