About the Role:

As a Senior Cloud Engineer you will be at the forefront of ICT operations providing expert hands-on leadership across Microsoft 365 Intune and Azure platforms. Your core responsibilities will include designing implementing and maintaining resilient cloud infrastructure troubleshooting complex technical issues and leading ITIL-aligned service management activities. You’ll support vital government applications contribute to operational governance and advise senior leadership through clear strategic briefings. This role offers the chance to influence the technological landscape within a respected government agency ensuring services remain secure reliable and compliant with government standards.

Required Skills:

• Must hold a current NV1 security clearance.
• Extensive experience in cloud infrastructure engineering particularly with Microsoft 365 Intune and Azure.
• Proven expertise in designing deploying and optimising scalable and secure cloud solutions.
• Strong hands-on skills in configuration troubleshooting and resolving complex issues within enterprise cloud environments.
• Deep knowledge of ITIL service management practices (incident problem change request).
• Ability to lead operational activities and manage complex technical escalations confidently.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical matters into clear actionable advice for non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated capacity to work independently with minimal supervision in fast-paced and challenging settings.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience supporting automation solutions including Microsoft Office macros (VBA).
• Familiarity with Government security standards and compliance frameworks.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery operational resilience and risk management.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect or Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator.
• Prior experience supporting secure environments within Australian Government agencies or similar settings.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Qualifications in Information Technology Computer Science or a related field.
• A minimum of 5+ years of practical experience supporting cloud-based ICT infrastructures in enterprise or government contexts.
• A proven record of providing senior technical leadership in complex ICT environments.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
• This is an onsite role based in Canberra operating within standard working hours (8 am to 6 pm).
• Initial contract duration of 12 months with the possibility of extensions up to an additional 12 months.
• Availability to commence around Monday 27 April 2026.
