Senior Engineer – Hydraulic / Civil / Mechanical
Location: Adelaide
Employment type: 6 months contract (potential extension)

Join a forward-thinking infrastructure team delivering innovative, safe, and sustainable engineering solutions that make a real difference to communities. We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with expertise in Hydraulic, Civil, or Mechanical engineering to provide high-level technical design, advisory, and governance services across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

The role
In this position, you will act as a trusted technical practitioner, working on complex and critical engineering projects from concept through to detailed design, auditing, and implementation. You will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure solutions are safe, fit-for-purpose, and in line with industry best practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to engineering design, investigation, and review activities for hydraulic, civil, or mechanical systems.
  • Champion Safety in Design principles and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, codes, and technical standards.
  • Provide specialist technical advice to internal teams, project managers, and contractors.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of technical standards and guidelines.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to drive innovation and performance improvements.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders, fostering collaboration and delivering customer-focused solutions.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Hydraulic, or Mechanical Engineering (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
  • Extensive experience in the investigation, concept, and detailed design of infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering procedures, standards, and best practice within large-scale infrastructure or water industry environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical issues, conduct audits, and provide clear, practical solutions.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams.
