Senior / Lead Network Engineer (NV1 Required)
Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane

We are seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Network Engineer to provide technical leadership across complex, secure network environments.

This role sits within an engineering-led programme focused on modernising and uplifting critical ICT capability, with a strong emphasis on performance, resilience, and security.

The Role

You will take a lead role in defining and governing network architecture, ensuring solutions are designed for operability and long-term sustainability in highly controlled environments.

This includes working across multiple systems, stakeholders, and delivery partners to ensure network designs are fit for purpose and aligned to strict security and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and assure network architectures and design patterns across complex environments
• Establish and govern network standards, configurations, and topologies
• Engineer and validate network security controls, including segmentation, firewalls, encryption, and access controls
• Analyse and optimise network performance and capacity, identifying bottlenecks and improvement opportunities
• Lead root cause analysis for complex incidents and define remediation strategies
• Support and guide engineers across design, troubleshooting, and delivery activities

About You

You will bring strong experience working in large-scale, secure or regulated ICT environments, with the ability to operate at a senior or lead level.

Key experience includes:

• Extensive background in enterprise-scale network engineering(on-prem, cloud, or hybrid)
• Strong technical knowledge across:
• routing and switching
• VPNs
• network security
• automation or orchestration (where applicable)
• Experience defining or contributing to network architecture and design standards
• Proven ability to lead complex troubleshooting and technical problem solving
• Experience working in secure or regulated environments

Requirements

• Current NV1 security clearance (mandatory)
• Ability to work in one of the following locations:
  Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane
