Are you an experienced platform engineer with deep AWS knowledge and a passion for supporting machine learning at scale? One of Australia’s leading client is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join their MLOps team, working in a cross-functional squad that supports the deployment of ML models into production environments.
This is an exciting 12-month contract (with strong potential for extension) where you'll act as a technical expert and trusted advisor for data science teams. You’ll help ensure their models are production-ready and seamlessly integrated into robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure.
About the Team:
You'll be embedded within the Deployment Integration squad – a professional services-style team that partners with a wide range of business units. Some groups need just light-touch code reviews, while others require full end-to-end guidance to get their models live. You’ll work hands-on with AWS SageMaker, driving best practices in engineering and deployment, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the bank’s machine learning platform.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Collaborate with data science teams to move models from development to production in AWS SageMaker
- Lead and execute on production-level deployment tasks, including containerisation, infrastructure automation, and system integration
- Improve the overall ML platform by building self-service and scalable capabilities
- Design and manage CI/CD pipelines and contribute to DevSecOps initiatives
- Work closely with stakeholders of varying technical skill levels, adapting your support approach accordingly
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly Amazon SageMaker
- Strong skills in containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Background in CI/CD automation, cloud security, and performance tuning for ML workloads
- Experience working in MLOps or ML engineering roles, ideally in large-scale or enterprise settings
- Familiarity with DevSecOps tools (e.g., Snyk or similar)
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills – able to work effectively in a customer-facing, consultative environment
- Ability to mentor others and provide technical leadership within the team
