One of our large enterprise clients are seeking an experienced Solution Architect with a strong application architecture and optimisation background to join the team. This role is split evenly between application portfolio optimisation and hands-on solution architecture across active projects. You’ll work closely with business and technology stakeholders to assess, rationalise and modernise a large application landscape, while also designing scalable, secure and cost-effective solutions that align to enterprise strategy.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead strategic assessment of a large application portfolio, covering business fit, technical fit and TCO
- Develop capability maps, value chain views and Gartner TIME matrix assessments to inform decisions
- Identify application rationalisation, simplification and cost-optimisation opportunities, supported by clear transition roadmaps
- Design end-to-end system and application architectures across hosting, databases, security, integration and middleware
- Translate business requirements and processes into scalable, reliable and maintainable technical solutions
- Produce high-level and low-level architecture designs, diagrams and supporting documentation
- Apply cost optimisation, ROI thinking and enterprise architecture standards to all solution designs
- Facilitate design workshops, architecture reviews and stakeholder discussions
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to influence outcomes, negotiate requirements and manage expectations
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect, with a strong emphasis on application architecture
- Demonstrated experience in application portfolio assessment, rationalisation or modernisation
- Strong understanding of enterprise systems, integration patterns and cloud/on-prem platforms
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at both business and technical levels
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on architectural delivery
