Our enterprise Technology client is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer (Contractor, 12 months) to design, develop, and maintain the enterprise storage platforms. This includes Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), storage arrays, fibre switches, data protection, and other core storage services. You will provide expert second- and third-level technical support in line with agreed service standards.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership in storage engineering, exploring emerging technologies (including Cloud) and implementing improvements to modernise storage capabilities.
- Lead and deliver assigned projects to agreed timelines and quality outcomes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and reporting progress to management.
- Maintain deep technical expertise across the storage environment, ensuring technical standards, documentation, and support materials are accurate and up to date.
- Offer specialist advice and guidance to stakeholders and management on complex technical matters relating to storage and backup systems.
- Support the Storage and Database Platforms Team Leader by mentoring team members, promoting knowledge sharing, and contributing to a high-performance team culture.
About you
You will bring extensive expertise in the design, implementation, and management of enterprise storage solutions, along with strong project leadership and communication skills.
Essential experience:
- NetApp FAS/AFF platforms (ONTAP 9) and data protection tools (SnapMirror, SnapVault, SnapCenter).
- Automation and scripting using Ansible, PowerShell, and/or Unix shell.
- Strong track record in enterprise storage hardware, SAN/NAS, virtualisation, data protection, and replication technologies.
- Hands-on experience with at least one enterprise operating system (Linux and/or Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2022), with a preference for RHEL.
- Proven ability to design, coordinate, and deliver complex technical projects, including risk analysis, in large-scale enterprise environments.
