An established and security‑focused IT security consultancy is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to maintain, secure and improve its internal technology environment. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys owning systems end‑to‑end, working closely with the business, and operating within a high‑trust, compliance‑driven environment.
The role is responsible for the reliability, security, and day‑to‑day operation of the organisation’s IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365, SharePoint‑based document management, cyber security, and vendor oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Microsoft 365, including SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, Entra ID, Defender and Purview
- Ensure availability, performance, and security of Windows server, endpoint, and network environments
- Oversee SharePoint and document management platforms, including permissions, data governance, and user support
- Support and monitor cyber security controls and compliance with DISP, ISM, and Essential Eight requirements
- Act as the primary operational interface with Managed Service Providers and key technology vendors
- Monitor system health, backups, incident resolution, and service delivery performance
- Manage user lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, and access control
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, policies, procedures, and asset records
- Provide escalation support for critical IT issues and communicate outages or changes to staff
Requirements
- Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain security clearance
- 3–5+ years’ experience in a Systems Administrator or similar IT operations role
- Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint administration
- Solid knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and networking fundamentals
- Practical understanding of cyber security controls, monitoring, and compliance obligations
- Experience working with Managed Service Providers and external vendors
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and support a professional services environment
Desirables
- Microsoft 365, security, or infrastructure certifications
- Experience administering Microsoft Copilot or AI‑enabled productivity tools
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery platforms
- Exposure to regulated or defence‑aligned environments
- Experience supporting engineering, design, or technical professional services teams
