Lead Applications Developer – Financial Services (6-Month Contract, Strong Extension Potential)

We are looking for an experienced Lead Applications Developer to join our Investments Technology Pacific team on an initial 6-month contract, with a strong chance of extension. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in modernising and enhancing a suite of internal applications that are critical to our Investments business.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee small development teams to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions. You will combine strong technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to drive the success of application development projects within a dynamic Financial Services environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of applications using the MEAN stack.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and align technical solutions with business goals.

• Champion software development best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and excellence within the development team.

• Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality applications.

• Leverage deep domain knowledge in Financial Services and Investments to ensure compliance, security, and business alignment.

• Identify and mitigate technical risks proactively.

Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of application development experience, including leading development teams.

• 5+ years in Financial Services, ideally within the Investments domain.

• Strong expertise across front-end and back-end development.

• Proven experience with:

  • MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, Angular, Node.js)

  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • Microservices architecture

  • CI/CD frameworks and GitHub

  • Containerised application deployment frameworks.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to balance strategic and technical priorities.

Working Relationships

You will collaborate closely with internal teams including Investments Technology, Investments Analytics, Solution Architecture, Infrastructure, and Investment Operations. External engagement will be minimal.
