Role: Mainframe Security Consultant
Location: Canberra (onsite preferred, with some flexibility for remote work)
Duration: 2 months, highly likely to extend

Our Client is seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Security Consultant to provide specialist expertise for a strategic migration review to new security software on Z. This is a short-term engagement for a seasoned professional with extensive knowledge of mainframe environments, security frameworks, and software migration strategies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive Migration Strategy Review for mainframe security.

• Assess current environment and identify migration opportunities and risks.

• Provide expert guidance on best practices for migration to enhanced mainframe security solutions.

• Produce clear recommendations and documentation to support the client’s security posture across mainframe systems.

Mandatory Requirements

• Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance(minimum)

• 20+ years of experience in mainframe security with proven expertise in Z environments

• Demonstrated track record in security software assessments and migrations

Desired Skills & Attributes

• Deep subject-matter expertise in mainframe security and related toolsets

• Strong advisory, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

• Ability to work independently while providing strategic, outcomes-focused recommendations
