Job description

Paxus is partnering with a large government department to find a technically minded Business Analyst to join them on a 6 month + 6 month contract opportunity, with more extensions on offer. These guys work 50/50 in office and at home. The role is based in Brisbane CBD.

Description

The European Train Control System (ETCS) team within the Passenger and Rolling Stock (PRS) Branch of the department is beginning to plan the next phase of the project dealing with the design and implementation planning for the Data Radio System (DRS). The immediate need is to consolidate stakeholder requirements, define use cases, identify gaps and to assist in the production of a high-level project plan, procurement plan, investment options for test infrastructure as well as a unified use case and requirements document.

Key responsibilities:
* Identify existing requirement documentation and consolidate these into one entity.
* Document use cases for Data Radio.
* Development of requirement reference taxonomy.
* Deliver workshops with a range of stakeholders to verify existing requirements and gap analysis.
* Develop suite of use cases for data radio within a rail signalling context.
* Develop unified requirements document.
* Apply use cases to identify acceptance criteria, viability/limitations of existing test infrastructure and assist with gap analysis.
* Assist in the production of an investment proposal for an integrated test infrastructure with a long-term view to suit future requirements/use cases.
* Assist in the production of a Procurement Plan utilising the requirements/use case taxonomy to identify service/material breakdowns to assist with the strategies for Go to Market.
* Assist with the development of a detailed project plan for the rollout of the DRS.

Mandatory
* Minimum 5 years working as a lead Business Analyst within a technology environment.
* Experience in developing requirements across a highly complex operational environment.

Highly Desirable
* Previous experience in the rail industry: rollingstock, network planning, signalling or infrastructure project delivery.
* Previous experience in the transport sector: network planning, vehicle design and commissioning, network monitoring and operations management.
* Previous experience in data radio or radio area network design in either mining, manufacturing, or warehouse operations.

* Business analyst experience with strong skills in the development of requirements and specifications according to standards and best-practice.

* Effective collaborator - be able to illicit information and provide advice in a timely, proactive manner for varying audiences including in a non-technical manner to build and sustain effective relationships and drive customer focused outcomes.
* Strong understanding of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK).
