Job description

Database Administrator (Cloud Projects)

Plan and execute data migration of Oracle databases from on prem to AWS Cloud platform (incl SaaS, PaaS and IaaS) including:

  • Demonstrating knowledge surrounding AWS Cloud platform and tools.
  • Providing advice on best practice.
  • Working with other DBAs to execute the migration.
  • Using agile methodologies.
  • Documenting solutions.

Work with application project teams to provide expert advice and problem resolution support focused around Cloud hosted databases including:

  • Gathering requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and provide advice.
  • Suggesting mitigation strategies and execute changes.
  • Using agile methodologies.
  • Documenting solutions.

Work within a team of infrastructure specialists to develop a medium to long range plan surrounding database hosting and support including:

  • Participating in technical conversations representing database.
  • Providing professional advice and recommendations.
  • Using agile methodologies.
  • Documenting solutions.

Provide ongoing support and administration for Cloud hosted databases.

Preferred Technical Knowledge:

  • Oracle RDBMS, Solaris/Linux, NetApp Storage, Postgress SQL
  • Cloud computing (AWS)

Essential criteria

1. Experience and ability to plan and execute data migration of Oracle databases from on prem to AWS Cloud platforms, including SaaS, PaaS and IaaS.

2. Experience and ability to work with application project teams to provide expert advice and problem resolution support focused around Cloud hosted databases

3. Experience and ability to work within a team of infrastructure specialists to develop a medium to long range plan surrounding database hosting and support

4. Experience and ability to provide ongoing support and administration for Cloud hosted databases

5. Technical knowledge - Cloud Computing (AWS)

Desirable criteria
1. Technical knowledge - Oracle RDBMS, Solaris/Linux, and NetApp storage knowledge, PostgressSQL
2. Experience working with Agile methodologies
