Job description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop robust, scalable network architectures.
  • Create and standardize network blueprints for onboard communication systems, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity.
  • Integrate IT and OT systems to facilitate seamless data exchange between onboard and ground-based systems.
  • Develop and execute strategies for effective IT/OT convergence, incorporating cybersecurity measures.
  • Install and manage network infrastructure on rail vehicles, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity protocols to safeguard onboard networks from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to network security, such as NIST800-160 and ISO27001.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, OT, and rail operations, to provide integrated and efficient network solutions.
  • Offer technical support and training to staff and stakeholders on network systems and IT/OT integration.
  • Conduct risk assessments and threat and vulnerability assessments for onboard architecture.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network designs, configurations, and maintenance procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in network engineering and architecture, preferably in the rail or transportation industry.
  • Proven experience in network design and implementation.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Familiarity with rail industry standards and regulations related to network and cybersecurity, such as AS 7770 and TS 5070.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC-UA, CAN bus, DDS, and SafeDDS.
  • Highly advantageous to have experience with AWS cloud platform.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or CISSP.
