Job description

  • 3-month contract + high potential for extension
  • Day rate around $800 depending on provided experience
  • Hybrid Working Environment- WFH/Office

One of Australia's largest government departments are looking for a Procurement Manager to join the team and play a key role in optimising their acquisition of goods and services. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive procurement strategy that delivers cost-effective solutions while ensuring quality and compliance.

What you'll do:

  • Organise procurement needs and advise on the most suitable acquisition methods (open market, framework agreements, etc.)
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify and evaluate potential suppliers
  • Develop and manage the tender, evaluation, and acquisition process from start to finish
  • Negotiate contracts with preferred suppliers, ensuring the best value for the organisation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure clear specifications and efficient procurement processes
  • Establish and maintain a robust procurement framework that adheres to legal and regulatory requirements
  • Stay up-to-date on market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency

You'll be a great fit if you have:

  • Proven experience in procurement, ideally within government environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices and relevant legislation
