Job description

About the role

The role of an Environment Policy Officer is to develop, implement, and monitor policies related to environmental conservation, sustainability, and protection.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide assistance in the development of timely and accurate mapping and data management advice to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Review and prepare correspondence regarding data and mapping requests to address community, Executive, and Ministerial inquiries.
  • Conduct or support spatial analysis to identify emerging environmental issues and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Support meetings on policy and project status and contribute to policy development processes.
  • Assist in all aspects of data program management to ensure data integrity and accessibility.

Key Challenges:

  • Prioritizing data requests to meet stakeholder needs effectively.
  • Understanding the previous work on the data management program to ensure continuity and effectiveness.
  • Communicating and collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders using various communication channels and styles to achieve desired outcomes.

Prefer Candidate Requirements:

  • Environmental policy experience or exposure, demonstrating a strong understanding of environmental issues and policies.
  • Planning system experience or exposure, showcasing familiarity with planning processes and regulations.
  • IT capacity, particularly proficient in Excel and geographic information systems (GIS) or spatial software, with relevant experience or certification.
