Job description

Background

Client has initiated a project to segment the client's Australian and Vietnam network into approximately nine security zones (managed user devices, printers, building management systems, student devices, etc.). The project will extend the existing Aruba Mobility Controller and ClearPass Policy Manager infrastructure currently used to manage the wireless network, to segment both the wired and wireless networks.

There are approximately 99 Australia and Vietnam buildings that require network segmentation into security zones, with the project expected to take 18 months to be completed.

Network segmentation is a principal component to enhance security posture and is part of defence-in-depth approach to security:

  • Minimises the attack surface by limiting the pathways or entry points that are available to attackers to compromise systems. Each interface to a system provides an attacker with a vector to exploit a vulnerability and compromise a host or a platform.
  • Facilitates the deployment of additional authorisation and content checks (for example, via firewalls or proxies) on connections between zones, to detect or prevent malicious payloads moving laterally within the environment.
  • Increases the time and actions needed for attacks or attackers to gain access into more trusted zone increasing the chance of detection. If a security breach is detected in one zone, actions may be able to be taken to address the breach before critical data or systems are breached in another zone

Consequently, there is a requirement for a Senior Project Manager to manage and deliver the project outcomes and benefits
