Job description

Paxus has partnered with a leading WA organisation and their Data Science and Advanced Analytics team, dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions to drive business success. Recently, their Data Science division underwent a strategic reorganization, with Advanced Analytics emerging as the pivotal project team responsible for deploying Data Science solutions across the business.

As a result, my client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Scrum Master with Agile Coaching capabilities to join their Advanced Analytics team. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide agile leadership, facilitate effective project execution, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in organising the team's work, implementing suitable cadences, and elevating their agile delivery capabilities. Additionally, this role involves coaching and upskilling team members to enhance their proficiency in agile practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Scrum Master for the Advanced Analytics team, ensuring adherence to agile principles and methodologies.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to drive iterative development and delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize project backlogs and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Assess the team's current ways of working and implement tailored agile practices to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide coaching and training to team members on agile principles, practices, and tools.
  • Foster a collaborative and self-organizing team environment that promotes accountability and innovation.
  • Understand the nature of Data Science work, particularly experimental Proof of Concepts (PoCs), and address the unique challenges of applying agile methodologies in this context.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master working with technical teams, preferably in a Data Science or Advanced Analytics environment.
  • Strong understanding of agile principles, frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor individuals at various levels of agile maturity.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt agile methodologies to suit the specific needs and challenges of the team.
  • Familiarity with Data Science concepts and the experimental nature of the work is desirable.
  • Agile certifications such as CSM, PSM, or equivalent are a plus.

Please note this is a part-time position, requiring 2.5 - 3 days per week, with the potential for extension based on team needs. The initial contract duration is 6 months, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time based on demand.
