Job description

Join an industry giant supporting a large client where you can fully utilise your Cognos expertise. You will be the architect for the system and help with designing, developing, and implementing business intelligence (BI) solutions using IBM Cognos tools. The role focuses on creating reports, dashboards, and data models to help organisation's analyse and visualise their data effectively.
Responsibilities often include:

  • Architecture, Design and Development: Creating and reports, dashboards, and panels within the Cognos environment.
  • Data Modeling: Working with data architects to develop data models, analyse data requirements, and optimise data for analytical purposes.
  • ETL Processes: Developing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes using tools like Informatica.
  • Report Generation: Generating and maintaining reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Performance Optimisation: Ensuring the performance and reliability of the Cognos reporting solution.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Providing Level support for users and resolving issues related to report generation, performance, and data errors.
  • Collaboration: Working with business analysts, end-users, and other development teams to deliver business intelligence solutions.


Skills and Experience:

  • Cognos Expertise: Proficiency in IBM Cognos tools and best practices.
  • Data Modeling: Knowledge of data modeling principles and techniques.
  • SQL: Strong understanding of SQL, stored procedures, views, and triggers.
  • Business Analysis: Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Data Warehousing: Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and best practices.
  • ETL: Knowledge of ETL processes and tools.
